Waitangi (Main township) situated around Petre Bay, Waitangi is just 5 mins walk from the Motels and has a lot to offer. Located here is the Council chambers, Community Focus Center, Waitangi hall, Museum, Police Station, Waitangi Café, ANZ bank, Waitangi store, Waitangi harware, Petre Bay Takeaways, and Hotel Chatham. Waitangi is the main port on the island.

South Coast
The south coast is a very unique coastline. It has some of the Islands finest sheep and cattle farms. Just a ten minute drive from the motels is Kaiara Farm (also owned by Eddie and Tracy) which gives you private access to the coast line for all your recreational needs such as fishing, diving, walking and bird watching. A BBQ is also available. (Prior permission is necessary). Devonshire teas are available on request through Vi Mills at Ohinemana.

Kaingaroa
Is a small fishing village, which is a one hour scenic drive around Te Whanga lagoon from the motels. Hapupu (on the way to Kaingaroa) is home of the Morori tree carvings (Dendroglyphs) Stop and meet locals at the Kaingaroa Sports and Social Club, and drink our very own local brew ‘Black Robin Brewery’ there is a great selection of beers and spirits available (White Pointer is a very popular drink)

Port Hutt
Is a thirty minute drive from Waitangi around picturesque rugged coastline. Along the way you can stop to epxerince the breath taking basalt rock columns, popular place for bird watchers. Carrying on through to Port Hutt, another small fishing village, then on to Waitangi west.

For the little more adventurous you could try four wheel bike riding up and around rugged terain, or hunting trips (Weka, Pig, Swan and Duck). Pitt Island tours can be arranged.
